Oct 19 - Went for a walk in the Rio Pueblo Gorge; took pictures of this cool bug..
Image: Rocks and a bug in the Rio Pueblo Gorge in Northern New Mexico
Cute bug. This is for real. This little guy was walking across our path during our walk into the Rio Pueblo Gorge. I had to take it's picture. I've never seen anything like it.
This picture has not been touched up or changed at all in PhotoShop or anything. It's the real thing.
It's got six legs so it's not a spider. It's about 1/2 inch long. It didn't hop, it just walked.
Picture taken by me on October 19, 2008.

This type of bug is called a Jerusalem Cricket or Children of the Earth. Pretty cool. A friend of mine captured one and a friend of hers told us what the name is. Somebody said they are poisonous, but they are not. They must be very rare since the one my friend had captured is only the third one I've seen in my entire life.
